The first draft of the Clean Electricity Regulations was published by the Federal Government in August. The CER are critical to getting to a net-zero electricity grid by 2035, and will help ensure we have clean, affordable, and reliable electricity across Canada. Getting this first draft published is a big win.
However, at a closer look, there are still loopholes in the current regulations which would allow fossil fuels on the grid well past 2035, threatening our ability to get to 100 per cent clean electricity across Canada. Public consultations on the CER are currently open and will close on Thursday, Nov. 2, 2023. Join this free webinar hosted by Ecology Action Centre and the Conservation Council of New Brunswick to learn how you can better engage with the public consultation process and call for a CER that closes loopholes for fossil fuels and ensures a clean, affordable, and reliable energy future for all Canadians.
