Wanda Spooner, Fund Development Advisor - Iron & Earth

Wanda Spooner, Fund Development Advisor

Wanda.jpgWith Iron & Earth since the spring of 2019, Wanda brings a variety of work, life and volunteer experience to her role as fund development advisor. Growing up in rural Alberta, Wanda understands the importance of the fossil fuel industry and honours the value of our natural heritage.

Inspired by travels through Europe, she pursued tourism and development studies at University of Calgary and later explored many regions of Central and South America, becoming an advocate for underprivileged communities and cultural preservation. This passion launched Wanda’s journey in the voluntary sector and career in communications and fund development which has spanned the fields of tourism, the arts, international development, social services and the environment.

Before joining Iron & Earth, Wanda worked with Alberta Ecotrust Foundation to build partnerships between corporations (mainly from the fossil fuel industry) and environmental NGOs to advance environmental solutions in Alberta. Having dedicated over a decade to this role, Wanda is a firm believer that progress on complex issues such as climate change, requires the involvement and collaboration of diverse partners.

With a personal goal to protect Mother Earth and contribute to building a better future for the world's most vulnerable, Wanda is thrilled to support Iron & Earth in funding its mission.
