Details

We are pleased to announce that on Saturday 29th October 2016 we will be hosting our first Visioning Workshop for supporters and members of Iron & Earth.

DETAILS

Saturday 29th October -Visioning Workshop; 10am - 5pm

The Visioning Workshop, hosted by worker member Matthew Linnitt, will be a chance for our membership & supporters alike, to hear more about our organization, what we do, why we do it, how we do it & what we plan to do over the next 12 months.

It will also be a chance for you to help shape that narrative by working alongside your fellow colleagues to help direct us in the way you want to see your organization run and develop over the coming months and years. We care deeply about representing our members needs, wishes and desires so this will be the perfect opportunity for us to develop this vision together.

Post Visioning Workshop Celebration Drinks; from 6pm

Following the Visioning Workshop we will head to the Aurora Lounge at the Delta Hotel, Edmonton for post workshop drinks & nibbles.

Here we can celebrate the success of the day over a nice cold drink and a few bites & get to know each other better.

The drink will be held here.

Accommodation

We have been kindly offered a discounted room rate at the Delta Edmonton South Hotel. The rooms available have 2 queen beds so could potentially fit 4 if you're feeling comfortable with you fellow members! The room rate is $120 per night, please contact Iron & Earth directly before booking to receive the discounted rate.

Will you come?

Iron & Earth was founded and operates on Indigenous land within Treaty Six Territory and Métis Region 4 in amiskwaciy-wâskahikan (in Nehiyawewin/Cree), so-called Edmonton. The home of many Indigenous Peoples including the Nehiyawak/Cree, Tsuut’ina, Niitsitapi/Blackfoot, Métis, Nakota Sioux, Haudenosaunee/Iroquois, Dene Suliné, Anishinaabe/Ojibway/Saulteaux, and the Inuk/Inuit.

We pay our respects to all Indigenous Peoples of this land. Through their spiritual and practical relationships with the land, a rich heritage for our learning and our life as a community has been created and maintained. We recognize that the transition to a low-carbon future must be led by Indigenous Peoples and that there will be no justice unless we acknowledge and repair our relationship with the land.

We are committed to responding to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s Calls to Action and upholding the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, and acknowledge that we are always learning and unlearning practices that minimize harm and lead to the development of trust between us and Indigenous Peoples across Nations and urban centers.
