ABOUT THE JOB
The employer is looking for a full-time Project Manager In-Training to join the Project Delivery team in their Ottawa office. This position will be focused on supporting the company’s infrastructure market sector. Most of the projects will focus on ports, roads, bridges, higher education and healthcare buildings.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for effectively sourcing, negotiating and facilitating new business in the infrastructure sector.
- Creating and delivering proposals inclusive of scope, fees and qualifications for public and client RFPs.
- Responsible for developing strong working relationships with clients.
- Assembling and guiding a team of the company’s consultants towards meeting project objectives.
- Oversee the preparation of documentation and reporting developed by the technical team.
- Accountable for project performance, on time and on quality delivery, and ensuring client expectations are met or exceeded.
- Manage financial activities of the project including tracking revenue, issuing invoices and recovering receivables.
- Ensuring that Quality Assurances are completed, recorded and meet company standards and project scope.
- Track industry developments and innovations to ensure that the company is continuously delivering relevant services, and new and innovative deliverables.
- Regularly develop and deliver presentations at project meetings / workshops and industry events.
APPLICANT QUALITIES
- Fully Bilingual (French and English).
- At least 2 years of relevant and proven industry knowledge and experience within architecture, engineering, design and construction, interior design, operations and building management, or other relevant fields.
- Post-secondary education required. Preference will be given to a degree in Engineering, Applied Science, Building Science, Architecture, or another relevant field.
- Understanding of building design and construction process, codes, standards and protocols.
- Maintain/obtain relevant professional accreditation (e.g. P.Eng., PMP).
- Superior and effective communication skills.
- Excellent client service ethic.
- Ability to delegate and prioritize deliverables.
- Ability to market the company and develop strong client relationships.
- Experience in developing detailed proposals and negotiating fees with clients.
- Ability to manage clients.
- Proven ability to: successfully meet schedules and control costs; manage scope creep; and negotiate additional service agreements when appropriate.
- Ability to develop solid interpersonal relationships.
- Strong leadership, organization and efficiency skills.
- Ability to speak and present in front of a large group.
- A drive to make it happen, and to turn client needs into opportunities.
- Ability to deliver on commitments and exceed client expectations.

THIS IS A TRAINING POSITION
This position is posted by Iron and Earth. Your interest in this position would involve participating in the Net-Zero Pathways (NZP) Program, if eligible.
The Net-Zero Pathways Program will enable self-identified and engaged Indigenous and fossil fuel workers and their communities to diversify their skills into a net-zero sector. NZP is a 7-week program that provides one-on-one case management, employability soft skills teachings, and engagement with employers to recruit and hire skilled workers seeking reliable employment opportunities.
Week 1: Employability skills training and overview of renewable energy sector. NZP is a fully paid 5-day (including wrap-around financial assistance) employability and employer-based workshop with an overview of the opportunities in the renewable energy sector.
Weeks 2-7: Hands-on job training. We will assist in placing you in paid, on-the-job training for 6 weeks with an employer in the renewable energy industry.
